This exclusive Kashmir Palmette Kashan silk rug has ben crafted by master weavers of Kashmir using 500 year old traditions that has been passed down generations.

At the center of the field there is a sixteen pointed star medallion with a rossette in the center encircled with eight palmettes with alternating designs. These are joined together by delicate shoots with flowers, palmettes and leaves. The central rosette in itself consists of a rosette in the middle surrounded by four palmettes alternating with floral design. At the two vertical ends of the medallion, along the axis, there are two pendants each consisting of one large palmette surrounded and decorated by floral shoots and buds. At the corners of the field, there is an area decorated with a quarter section of the central medallion star with palmettes and a quarter rosette design. The remainder of the central area of the rug is decorated with a intricate floral design of plant shoots with leaves, flowers, various types of palmettes and buds, the whole effect being one of harmony and symmetry.

The border is wide and well proportioned, as befitting a rug where even the smallest detail has been painstakingly worked out. The inner guards as well as the outer stripe both have a similar motif of flowers alternating with palmettes joined together by a slender leafy shoot. The central stripe has large lotus palmettes of alternating design separated by smaller palmettes, plant shoots, leaves and smaller flowers. This particular rug has a unique band along the border of the outer strip, consisting of rectangular plain colored motifs that create a distinctive frame for this very exclusive rug.
