Loving my new shawl thank you very much; the packaging was exquisite, and the shawl itself is an utter delight—I am embarrassed to say that I am over-wearing it. When you update the collection let me know.

The Kashmir Paisley Shawl Collection
Life springs eternal; that’s the message of the paisley motif shawl – one of The Kashmir Company’s most eclectic wrap collections ever!
For centuries, Kashmiri artisans have created the flowing, continuous
paisley motifs on shawls to reflect the infinite abundance that nature provides. The tear, palm leaf or floral shaped design depicts the epitome of resilience, futility and rebirth. Wearing an authentic
Kashmiri Paisley Shawl is immersing yourself in the deep historical tradition surrounding the motif’s mystic.
This divine and beautiful sacred design took on a life of its own, as it was traded from Persia all the way to the England; bridging the gap between cultures for being synonymous with everlasting life.
Like our
Ivory Collection, our paisley motif shawls are another amazing example of how visionary artisans have derived fashion from the organic art that we observe in nature. The boteh (of Persian descent) is a name that describes what’s referred to as the Paisley Pine. The artisans called the paisley motif “buta,” which means flower. The paisley design is also thought to symbolize the cypress tree leaves, which according to ancient traditions exemplify the very essence of life and affluence; dating as far back as the Zoroastrian time.
In the finicky world of fashion, it’s a testament to the paisley motif to have lasted since before the time of Jesus Christ.
Never has a staple of fashion reinvented itself so many times or suited such a diverse taste of style-enthusiasts. The
paisley motif shawl has been used in many eastern traditions for a variety of uses. The hippies decked themselves out in the design during the 60’s to flaunt their free love and desire for peace. Even today, the nature-inspired paisley patterned shawls have the power to dress yourself up or down; perfect for absolutely every occasion from the modern-casual look to accentuating any attire of the social elite.
The Paisley Shawl Collection has a fantastic selection of ari-embroidered styles and colors that resonate with virtually any mood or help you exude the aura you imagine yourself commanding.
Fashion has an amazing power to instill within us a sense of confidence and pride, doesn’t it? When you want to feel beautiful, express your love or romantic sensibility, and always make the most incredible impressions; you look to fashion to help you achieve your desires. The feeling of wearing clothing that’s rich in story and legacy can feel indescribable. We promise you’ll feel an appreciation for the beauty and lineage portrayed in every
handmade, hand-dyed paisley shawl. More so, we at The Kashmir Company are certain you’ll be the talk of any social gathering when you wear one of the many unique pieces from our
exclusive luxurious Paisley Shawls Collection.
Remember, the power of the paisley design has traveled across continents over the course of centuries to adorn your contemporary, impeccable fashion sense. Displaying yourself in a
designer paisley shawl decorates the female form with a design that’s ancient and powerful for what it symbolizes.
No doubt, wearing a hand-dyed, ari-embroidered paisley motif shawl will personify your own immortal, innate beauty that’s immoveable by time – like the nature-born symbol itself.
Support the artisans of Kashmir and add one of these amazing pieces wearable-art into your constantly evolving wardrobe.
The Kashmir Paisley Shawl has been characterized by the boteh (or buta, meaning flower in India) , the principal motif with which the
Paisley Shawl is associated. This repetitive curvilinear shape has been known by many names since its first appearance on
Paisley Shawls in the eighteenth century including paisley, pine cone and mango. The development of the
Kashmir Paisley Shawl is closely related to the development of the boteh motif; the motif’s different forms express different periods in the Paisley Shawl’s development in India. It began in the Mogul period as the flowering plant (‘floral’ boteh) , evolved into a slightly abstract representation of flowers (‘semi floral’ boteh) and then developed during the Afghan period into a more stylized curvilinear representation of foliage and flowers rising to a vertex at the top (‘cone’ boteh). By the middle of the nineteenth century, under the Sikhs, it had developed into an extremely stylized form of sweeping(‘sweeping’ boteh) sinuous curves far removed from any resemblance of nature’s flora.
The Kashmir Paisley Shawl Collection is all about the ‘boteh’ design that
Kashmir Paisley Shawls are famously associated with. Hand embroidered on 100% Kashmir wool, all shawls in this collection have a myriad of paisley designs ranging from the simple to the very complex using naturally colored bright threads that further emphasize the beauty of this famous paisley motif.
