The Pari Mahal Kashmir Silk Rug Collection
Pari Mahal (translation ‘Palace of Fairies’) is part monument and
part garden, located on the spur of a hill overlooking the beautiful
lake city of Srinagar in Kashmir. Originally a Buddhist monastery, Mogul
Emperor Shah Jahan’s eldest son Dara Shikoh converted it into a school
of astrology in the 17th century. Dara Shikoh was a gentle and pious
Sufi intellectual and was an erudite champion of religious and cultural
interaction among people of all faiths.
The Pari Mahal Silk Rug Collection captures the mystic beauty of Pari
Mahal in beautiful silk prayer rugs, ethereal and inspiring at the same
time.
